Speeds and Claims: HughesNet Speed claims compared to dial-up speeds of 50 kbps. All listed speeds, associated with service plans are "maximum speeds". So all speeds are "up to" the listed maximum speed. Actual speeds may vary and are not guaranteed. Uninterrupted use of service is not guaranteed. Listed speeds are available only through Hughes’ new satellite. The majority of subscribers will have access to these faster speeds. All accounts are subject to the Fair Access Policy (FAP).
