Question: What are the minimum speeds?

Answer: This is not an easy question to answer, because there are numerous variables that will affect your connection speed. The more computers you have sharing the connection through a router, the slower the speeds will be. It also depends on what type of activities the connected computers are engaged in. If all four computers sharing a connection are streaming video, or uploading gigs of information the connection could slow down considerably.

The truth of the matter is that all internet connections, regardless of the ISP (internet service provider) will experience slower speeds based on the above mentioned variables, and others not listed here. The great thing about HughesNet is that our customers consistently report satisfaction with the service, and it is known to be highly reliable. We have tested the service plans' maximum speeds in ideal conditions and have them posted on this site, but unfortunately there is no guarantee about what speeds you will experience because of there being so many variables.

With all that said, we cannot express a minimum speed for any specific package with any real degree of certainty. If this is a concern, we highly encourage that you call and speak with one of our live consultants. back to top | I'm ready to order

Question: What is a Static IP address?

Answer: Computers use IP addresses to locate and talk to each other on the Internet. There are temporary (dynamic) and static IP addresses. Most people use temporary IP addresses, sometimes referred to as dynamic IP addresses, but some applications require a “fixed” or static IP. A dynamic or temporary IP addresses is assigned on a session basis and once the user disconnects from the Internet, their dynamic IP address goes back into the IP address pool so it can be assigned to another user. A permanent or Static IP address is assigned by the ISP and remains a constant part of the computers profile. Static IPs make Internet connections more secure. Some company’s require a Static IP address be used by remote workers to access their Intranet. back to top | I'm ready to order
